Anyway. I finished the second-to-last chapter of my spn_j2_bigbang entry last night, which brings the current wordcount into the six figures. Observe:


It would surprise me not at all if this thing caps at 120k, which is a far cry from the 60 or 70k project I anticipated at the start. By comparison, that would have been a walk through the bloody park, as opposed to writing challenge during which I could have brought a pregnancy to term. In better news, I leave for Texas in less than three weeks, which means imminent hangouts with cautionzombies and daggomus_prime. That might actually be too much awesomeness for one person to handle. On the other hand, I might be frothing at the mouth with insanity by then.

I wish I could post an excerpt of this thing for y'all, just so there's some context for what the hell I've been nattering on about for months, but sadly that would be against the rules. But there's less than a month left to wait!

 Someone needs to present this to Jared, stat. Yes, I've been on Etsy again.

This is kind of a random post, but for those of you fond of eBooks and in possession of an eReader, I thought I'd direct your attention to a great Etsy shop that sells the cutest little eReader covers you ever did see.

This is the one I got:


Adorable, n'est pas? The shop is called CW Creations - I have no affiliation with them whatsoever, so I'm not getting anything out of pimping their store, but if you're in the market for a sweet, high-quality cover, it's worth checking out. I was really impressed by the craftsmanship and the colour/pattern combinations, and am far more enamoured of the unique design than I would have been by one of the uninspired designs available through eReader retailers such as Best Buy or Chapters/Borders/Barnes & Noble, etc. They're a little on the pricey side, I admit, once you factor in shipping (within the US it's far more reasonable, about $5, but to Canada I had to fork over almost $12 in shipping), but I'm so happy with my purchase that I sort of don't mind. Most covers run at around $45, which is not much more than you'd pay for a generic folder cover in store. The best thing is, the covers fit most eReaders, and you can ask them to customize the size depending on what type of device you have at home.

Hi all,

A quick update on some things, since I've been a bit remiss in posting lately outside of twitter! I don't mean to neglect you. Some exciting things have been happening - the lovely bauble visited me in Toronto last weekend and lots of fun and adventures were had, and then next month I'll be joined by my brain-twin, fossarian, so we can experiment with a) writing our deancasbigbang while sitting across the room from one another, and trying not to kill each other over our Yankees/Blue Jays rivalry on the playing field. AND THEN I'm off to Texas in August to visit cautionzombies and daggomus_prime (a mere 2 days before our spn_j2_bigbang is due, oddly enough). I'm really hoping some other random folks will show up in that neck of the woods, too (bauble and nyoka, I'm looking at you), but we'll see what happens. I'm so excited I could spit chewing tobacco and fling my Stetson in the air. They do that in Texas, right?

Anyway, speaking of J2BB, I thought y'all deserved an update on my progress, which is ongoing. Looks like my projection of a 90k final wordcount isn't as wacky as I first thought, because, well...




For those who are wondering, work on When Play Turns Bitter is still going apace, though I'm not totally sure how quickly I'll get the final chapter up. Hopefully soon, although it's getting more and more difficult to put aside my J2BB work as the summer continues to crawl by. But I promise it's still in the works, and will definitely be finished this summer. In the meantime I also have some one-shots planned, and--*gulp*--maybe even some RPF involving baseball.

Also totally random--and I'm sorry if this puts anyone off--but does anyone else feel the new Lady Gaga album is kind of... not up to par? It's not bad, exactly, but feels a lot more derivative than I expected. It's like she took some stock pop chord progressions and mashed them together with a bunch of Justice songs. Except that Justice still did it better.

Why not, right? I'm sure this is a totally acceptable thing off which to base self-esteem and personal validation. Yeah. *deer-eyes*

Did Dean just learn how to tie Windsor knots recently or sommat? He looks like Dean Smith every week and it is KILLING ME. Hnnng.
