Some kind of proof.

I posted this to Twitter earlier, but it later occurred to me it's probably better-suited to LJ considering my recent post about my Clarisonic Mia. There's really no better introduction than to read that post, but for those who already have and maybe needed convincing about why they should get one, I'm going to provide what I consider the ultimate form of proof:

Me, completely makeup-less. Somewhere inside my sixteen-year-old self, or even my twenty-year-old self, is dying, because a couple years ago this would have seemed like a complete impossibility. But now my skin is actually nice to the point where I can do this comfortably. Am I at the point of going out in public without makeup? Maybe not yet, but I'm close. I consider this a big start.

So here you have it, taken in front of a window so as to better illuminate any imperfections, and completely un-retouched:

I even threw in the bathrobe. It's a good feeling. So those with skin woes: go buy a Clarisonic right the hell now.

Wow, sweetheart - you, good madame, are absolutely beautiful. And I'm so glad the clarisonic has helped you!

I so hear you... I got one of those and gave up gluten at the same time... and this is the first time in a decade that my skin doesn't look like a pizza. It's like being a new person. ♥

You are so pretty! =)
I bought one after your first post about it and I have had it for about a month now. I'm really impressed with it, just, incredibly impressed. I have a question for you though, has it helped you with scarring?

I actually am pretty lucky in that I don't have any scarring, but I'm sure the process of exfoliating the skin would probably help. Since the Clarisonic works with whatever skin products you'd normally use, my advice would be to go to a skincare counter at your local department store or Sephora, like Clinique, which I think has a lot of specialty products for those types of issues. With any luck they'll have something or will be able to point you to another brand that has a line specifically formulated for that.

First up - you're stunning. :-) And it's nice to put a face to the name. :-)

Second... I am so buying one of those! I must find out if I can get in Aus!

*hugs*

I know [livejournal.com profile] qthelights ordered one to AUS for herself, and I think it was something of a convoluted process that also involved getting an adapter. Maybe message her and found out what she did? I believe she found an online retailer in Oz so she wouldn't have to order from the US.

Mucho thanks for that! But of course I just realised I have a few friends in the U.S. who can order for me anyway. Doh!

But I did buzz q, so thanks for the intel. :-)

That really is a gorgeous complexion and doesn't need hiding behind make-up.

I have the opposite problem and have never been able to find a routine to improve my incredibly sensitive, dry skin. It's impossible to conceal with make up because it only exacerbates the situation and looks awful after a really short time.

Do you think the clarisonic do anything for dry skin?

Thanks! My skin has always been more on the oily side, so I'm not personally sure what it will do for dry skin; however it does do a great job of sloughing off all the dead stuff. I think if your routine utilizes sensitive/dry skin formulas and LOTS of moisturizer, you should be okay. With dry/sensitive skin you have to really make sure you're not using anything that will strip the skin and make it worse, as you know. However, the Clarisonic has different types of brush heads, including a delicate one that is super soft. I alternate between that and the sensitive brush (which is actually less soft than the delicate) and it does a great job of not over-drying and in turn making my skin produce more oil.

Hopefully that helps!
