I kind of spoiled myself for 6.14 and now I can't watch the Dean-n-Lisa montage because of all the cringing promised to me. I really, really just want to skip to the end. Does this make me a bad fan?

I don't think it makes you a bad fan. I choose to ignore cannon most of the time anyway... or make believe entire seasons don't even exist :)

I like how I can watch scenes of bloody decapitation, but when it comes to cheesy montages, I have to look away. Lol.

Also, hello! You friended my writing journal, [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com], so I figured I'd friend you back with my non-writing journal if that's alright with you.
/wow way to be a creep

I saw that, and I added you back! I meant to comment on your [livejournal.com profile] d_hearts_c fic and got pulled away by work, so adding your journal was my way of a) being able to find it again and b) a reminder to go read your other stuff, because that was just so delightful and well-characterized. It's nice to find a fic involving John that doesn't portray him as a complete tosspot.

I don't so much mind cheesy montages with the other characters... it's just Dean and Lisa. Their whole relationship just seems to forced and flat to me, that the thought of sitting through all that made me throw up in my mouth a little. :P

Duly noted! haha Thanks so much, by the way. That's a very high compliment coming from you, as your characterizations are one of my favorite things about your fics. And my thing about John is that I truly don't think he was a Bad Father so much as just sort of lost. Like he just didn't really know how to be a parent. I feel bad for the guy, honestly, because he did try.

Lol sorry for the mini rant. I just think John is a really interesting character, so I'm glad you liked the way I portrayed him.

I agree about the Dean/Lisa thing. I mean I thought the relationship that they had when we first met her was the most realistic portrayal.

Heh, I considered just skipping it altogether, too, but I do like Ben, and in retrospect I kind of like what it established about Dean's character in the end. The rest of it was sort of meh.

Can you draw an alternate version of 6.14 instead? Maybe with a montage of Dean and Cas moments? :D

Yeah, ignore the cheese - I have not been this creeped out by a scary story since Bloody Mary! Creeptasm FTW!

Plus, it depends. If you like the Dean/Lisa thing, yeah, it's cheesey, but SPN never did go for subtle, so it kind of rolls off.

I was imagining D/S and D/C fans screaming about how it's all a cover-up for who Dean OBVIOUSLY LOVES and how the writers must hate the fans!!! and kind of amusing myself at the imaginary meltdowns.

This episode, IMO, outside the sledgehammer o' montage, was better written than last week, in any case. The last scene is really nice to see.

I mean I'm a D/C shipper, but I hold no illusions about it ever actually be included in the show. I actually think it's better that way. Makes the fic better. hahaha

If it counts - there's nothing new in that montage at all - not only that, but most of it is a montage built out of a different montage, which I found hilarious. Totally skippable, IMO.

Heh, I did end up watching it in a fit of boredom, but I was really confused by where Dean got all this random new clothing. Short-sleeve button-downs, wtf? I like how those outfits will never be heard from again, although we could stand to see him in jeans and a t-shirt more often.

I'm so dissapointed with the Dean/Lisa plot line.
The reason I don't like it is this: we're constantly told how happy they were. How this was Dean's one chance at happiness, and now he's throwing it away. BUT, we never saw this. Not really, except for a few flash backs. What we have seen is them being moody, unhappy, worried, generally in pain and we've been presented with a situation that seemed to be doomed from the start.
This is not the way to sell an OTP!!!
I'm just not feeling it.
If we'd seen half a season of Dean and Lisa working through their issues, being happy, having ups and downs, slowly building a family and Dean and Ben bonding, then I'd be on the front lines of the Dean/Lisa parade.
Also, at the beginning Lisa even mentions how difficult that year was, how poorly Dean was coping and how much he was drinking. Which yeah, makes sense. But doesn't reinforce the "one chance at a happily ever after" argument.

So, ehm, rant over.
I've just been very dissapointed with the writing of that plot line.
You're not being a bad fan.
Let's all just pretend it never happened...

ps. this is only a reaction to 6.14, haven't had a chance to watch this weekend's episode yet.
